The Methodist Church Ghana
Church software for Methodist societies in Ghana
A Methodist society is not a congregation with small groups bolted on. It is a society inside a circuit inside a diocese, organised into Bible classes each with a class leader who knows their own people, and it files a return that nobody outside Methodism would recognise.
Your structure, not a template
Almost every church system sold in Ghana models a single independent congregation. Fold does not. The society, the circuit, the class and the class leader are what it is built from, and your membership categories are the ones your own society uses.
Levels of oversight
- Diocese
- Circuit
- Society
Branches let one account oversee several societys, each keeping its own register.
Your words, not ours
Membership categories
- Full Member
- Catechumen
- Junior Member
- Adherent
Offices your church fills
- Superintendent Minister
- Society Steward
- Class Leader
- Local Preacher
- Society Secretary
These are examples from Methodist practice. You type your own, and nothing is a fixed list.
Your quarterly statistical return, already filled in
The evening somebody in your society loses every period, assembling figures that were all written down somewhere already. Fold counts them from the records your team kept as they went.
- Membership totalled and broken down by Bible classes
- Attendance averaged against services actually held, not against Sundays on a calendar
- Baptisms, confirmations, weddings and funerals recorded the week they happen
- Income split by tithe, offering and any fund you keep
- Ready to print or save as PDF for the circuit
Who sees the giving
The minister, an administrator and a finance officer. Nobody else. A class leader can keep their own people and record attendance without ever opening the giving records, and that is enforced by the database itself rather than by hiding a menu item.
Each society's records are separated from every other church's in the same way. Under the Data Protection Act, 2012 (Act 843) your church is a data controller and must register with the Data Protection Commission, and choosing software that separates records properly is part of meeting that duty.
