Take a gift by mobile money

Prompting a member's phone so the gift lands against their name.

Displaying a church MoMo number on a screen works, but nothing tells you who sent what or which fund it was for. Taking it through Fold prompts the member's own phone and records the gift against their name and fund.

  1. Record the contribution and choose mobile money as the method.
  2. Enter the member's number. MTN, Telecel and AirtelTigo are all supported.
  3. The member approves the prompt on their handset.
  4. Nothing counts as given until they approve, so your books match the money.

The money leaves the member's wallet at once and reaches the church's account on the next working day, when Paystack settles. A tithe paid on Sunday shows in the church's MoMo or bank account on Monday; one paid on Friday evening shows on Monday too. Fold counts the gift the moment it succeeds, so the giving page runs a working day ahead of the account. If the account looks short on Sunday night, that is why, and it is not lost.

Check the fee before you rely on it for small offerings. Processors charge roughly 1.95 per cent, but some apply a minimum of about 30 pesewas per transaction, which on a GHS 5 offering is six per cent.
