What is a presbyter?
Presbyter
A presbyter is an elected lay elder of a Presbyterian congregation, ordained to serve on the Session and share in its pastoral and governing work.
Presbyters are elected by the congregation for a term, usually with responsibility for a section of the membership or an area of the church's life. In the Church of Pentecost the word is used for the body, the presbytery, rather than the person.
Used by: Presbyterian and E.P. churches.
