A tithe is a tenth of a member's income given to their church, recorded against the member's name so the church can issue a receipt or a statement.
It differs from an offering in being tied to a person and a period. Most Ghanaian churches keep a tithe book or tithe cards for exactly that reason, and it is the first thing that moves to mobile money because a member can pay it from anywhere.
