What is a transfer of membership?
Transfer of membership
A transfer is the formal movement of a member from one congregation to another, with a letter from the sending church so the receiving church can enter them on its register.
Without the letter a member is either counted twice or not at all. A church that records transfers in and out can tell its return why membership changed, which is the question the level above always asks.
