What is a society?
Society
A society is the local congregation of the Methodist Church, the church you attend on Sunday, and the unit that keeps its own register and files its own return.
Several societies make up a circuit, several circuits a diocese. A society is led by a minister, who may be responsible for more than one society, and by its society stewards and leaders' meeting. Members belong to a Bible class within the society, each with a class leader.
The society is the level at which the register is kept, giving is counted and the quarterly statistical return is prepared. That makes it the unit most church software has to understand and most does not.
Used by: The Methodist Church Ghana, AME Zion and other Methodist churches.
